All Stars Inn.

Introducing the All Stars Inn, New Zealand’s largest mass timber building! Built circa 2015, this impressive structure caught the attention of design teams with its remarkable lightweight construction. With the product weighing only about 20% of previous structures, it was the perfect fit for the peat-laden land it stands on.

Instead of having to dig out a deep foundation into a high water table, the vibrating of 350mm SED piles became possible, thanks to the lightness of the timber. The joinery style product used in this project allowed for quick and efficient erection, fitting within millimeters over services and providing a solid structure with timber beams and trusses. All of this was achieved within the required timeline and budget, making it a true accomplishment.

It's no wonder that the All Stars Inn won the NZ Timber Awards 2017 for Engineering Innovation. This project wouldn't have been possible without our amazing partners: XLAM, ENGCO, and TMCO. At RM Designs, we're proud to have contributed to the success of this extraordinary building.
