These clients are no strangers to Lockwood, having owned a few in the past. They were looking for a home builder to partner with who had a good reputation and offered a low maintenance but resilient option for their holiday home on their Pauanui site.

Coastwood Homes – Lockwood Coromandel met their requirements on all fronts, able to offer them the beachy feel and relaxed style they were after, matched with a high performing building system proven over 7 decades. Confident and relaxed with their choice, they embarked on their design phase by combining what they loved about the Verandah show home in Thames, with one of the old favourites, the Otama. Their narrow site which overlooks a reserve required engineered retaining works.

The design needed to maximise available space for sun, views and provide privacy for outdoor entertaining. The clever customisation of the Verandah and Otama plans created four opportunities for alfresco entertaining, privacy for a spa pool and wide open spaces for relaxed holiday living with family.

They chose to upgrade to clear knot-free pine in their living space and went with the modern blonded timber finish throughout. They mimicked the long clear lines of sarking running opposite to the rest of the home through the open plan living – as seen in the Verandah show home. A bold dark painted wall frames the TV and entertainment area, connecting with the exterior colour as a focal point of interest in the family room. A David Trubridge Navicula pendant hangs splendidly over the dining table, capturing the ebb and flow of the beachy vibes of the Coromandel and complimenting the light timber interiors perfectly.

This four bedroom home, features a generous master en-suite, custom made bunk room and a separate office, all linking back to the kitchen, living and dining area through a light filled breezeway.

Their beach house is a home away from home for this family who are looking forward to creating happy memories with their extended family for many years to come.
