Transitional.

Set within a light-filled apartment, the project brings together Art Deco references, sculptural lighting, polished stone, warm timber, patterned textiles and a carefully curated art collection to create a home with depth, character and a strong sense of personal narrative.

Rather than treating Art Deco as a period style, the interior interprets it through proportion, symmetry and detail. Gilded mirrors, decorative chandeliers, marble surfaces and brass accents sit alongside clean-lined joinery, expansive glazing and contemporary furniture forms. The result is an interior that feels both composed and expressive, balancing decorative richness with architectural clarity.

Materiality plays a defining role throughout. Timber panelling and parquetry detailing bring warmth and rhythm to transitional spaces, while stone flooring and marble-lined bathrooms introduce a sense of permanence. In the living and dining areas, soft upholstery, sheer window treatments and sculptural pendant lighting soften the scale of the apartment, creating moments of intimacy within larger open volumes.

Across the home, Antrobus Design Collective uses colour and pattern with confidence. Deep blue walls, floral textiles, cane detailing, framed artworks and collected objects give each room its own identity, while the consistent use of timber, stone and metallic finishes ensures the interior remains cohesive. Transitional is a study in contrast: refined yet playful, classic yet contemporary, highly detailed yet quietly resolved.
